Synopsis

This is an autobiographical exploration and the story of the city that inspired it. We enter the story in the 1950s: childhood in the new suburbs, with his father's "lessons in working-class culture," his mother's digressions on the magic of tailoring, his Communist and Catholic families, his Lombard and Lecce ancestry, tram rides, motorcycle excursions, the deaths of John F. Kennedy and Pope John, Rocco and his brothers, the oratory, the cinema, games, adolescent friendships, and first loves among freight yards and unguarded pens. And we proceed with the snapshot of youth, alongside his friend, a master of life and vision, with the great workers' struggles in the background, the vitality of extra-parliamentary groups, the dreamy social melting pot of a generation that wanted "different eyes." This formation is mixed with the perception of today, the draining of the industrial city, the urban planning projects for a Greater Milan, the transformations of the skyline, the triumph of the fashion capital and of the starchitects.
