History of the award
The Festival Primo Romanzo arrived in the library in Cuneo in 1999, thanks to the interest of some readers who had begun reading Italian debut novels at the Turin Book Fair.
From the very beginning, thanks to the collaboration of theAlliance Française of Cuneo and the Dante Alighieri Society of Chambéry, a connection was established with the Festival du premier roman de Chambéry-Savoie.
The Festival Primo Romanzo became the Cuneo City Award for the Primo Romanzo in 2001, maintaining its organization and objectives unchanged.
The collaboration with the Festival du premier roman de Chambéry-Savoie has strengthened, culminating, in 2008, in the creation of the Alcotra Giovani e Primo romanzo, co-financed by theEuropean Union.
