Tutto il bene, tutto il male

Synopsis

It takes courage to be happy, and Sveva was never happy in her parents' home. Sarah, her mother, focused everything on beauty and on gaining a place in society, to observe the world from a comfortable vantage point. But Sveva doesn't care about beautiful clothes or exclusive schools, nor about finding a decent man and a secure marriage. So, whenever she can, she runs away to her aunt Alma, the mother she would have wanted, the odd one with the different-colored eyes, the family irregular, the rebel who never gets along. In her, she has found a friend and an accomplice, someone from whom she can learn the meaning of love, independence, and—why not?—even mistakes. If disobedience is a hereditary trait, Sveva is certain she inherited it from her and her great-grandmother, who had psychic powers and continues to watch over them from far away. When Alma becomes pregnant with Tommaso, a solitary creature who belongs only to the sea, the fragile and complicated family balance threatens to shatter. For all of them, the time comes to restore order within themselves, or perhaps to accept that life is destined to remain eternally inaccurate and that the most important people are those who fall upon you without warning.
