Synopsis

Italo is seventeen years old and grew up in an unfamiliar, lazy province with his mother, Stefania, a beautiful middle-aged woman who runs a beauty salon and who, during her son's childhood, dragged him from one beauty pageant to another. Because Italo is handsome, he doesn't care in the slightest. In fact, he's annoyed by it, since it seems to be the only thing people notice about him. Italo is a loner and also for this reason, a careful and sensitive observer of the small world around him, made up of vices and hypocrisies, dramas, and days that are always the same. He has only one friend, Patrick, a colossal orange-haired muscleman obsessed with motorbikes and the gym, very different from him but also the only one capable of showing him sincere affection. And so, between bike rides that cut through the sweltering countryside of early August and the provincial stench that clings to you as soon as you approach the city, between Sunday visits to the prostitutes at the car wash on Via Watt, birthday parties crowded with his mother's drunken and desperate friends, and commemorations for the victim of a horrendous crime committed forty years earlier, the story of Italo unfolds, an unwilling guest in an alien reality that only he seems to see uselessly immobile.
