Synopsis
There's almost always a flaw in the portrait we form of our family as children. Usually, this is realized once we're grown up, but Milo—known to everyone as Mio—discovered it at the age of eleven. It's an October afternoon in 1991 when, returning home, he notices that his little brother Nicholas, a stutterer and a lover of séances, has left the house alone. They begin searching for him in the nearby garden, but there's no sign of him. While the police launch an investigation and the shocked town fills with flyers featuring his face, Mio makes a decision: he will find his little brother himself. Did the mechanic, whom he saw engaging in unmistakable behavior with a seventeen-year-old, kidnap him, or the mysterious Addams women, two women who live in solitude and about whom horrifying legends have woven themselves? In this search, however, Mio will realize that within her own family lies a terrible secret, ready to resurface from the darkness in which it had been carefully hidden.
