Synopsis

Salvatore and his brother Damiano were born on the island. They grew up with their father, a rough-and-tumble man who ran a small mechanic's shop and occasionally succumbed to his old habit of alcohol. Salvatore doesn't remember his mother; she left when he was little, and no one wants to tell him anything about her. These three men are, despite everything, a family. Around them is only sea as far as the eye can see, a barren landscape that leaves no escape, and a heat that seems to paralyze every perspective. A small blue cove nestled between the rocks is the backdrop for their moments of freedom. The two brothers, each in their own way, seek a way to escape the island that seems to inhabit them like a curse, a way to tame the wild land that surrounds them: Salvatore, just a teenager, finds them in an abandoned farmhouse in the middle of the fields, where his father has forbidden him to go. Ignoring the ban, the boy takes refuge there whenever he can because that place is his alone, and there he keeps a secret: a stray dog he's trying to befriend. He doesn't know that the place holds another, much darker secret, something his father has always tried to protect him from.
