Synopsis
Rome, July 1947. On the Appian Way, on a frigid Friday, the body of a woman bearing the scars of senseless violence is found. There are no clues to establish her identity, only a flowered skirt, a man's button, and a mole just above her lip. The case is entrusted to Achille De Santis, a commissioner tormented by a complicated family crisis. His investigations across postwar Rome uncover an unexpected criminal network, one of hidden and stolen identities, and of dangerous connections between the old fascist regime and the new powers. The reconstruction of a spider's web in a poisonous thriller.
