Synopsis

An event capable of suspending existence and forcing us to look at it from a different, unprecedented perspective: the victim of an accident, the novel's protagonist finds herself unable to move or speak, yet in a state of crystalline lucidity through which she rereads her past and foresees a future. Around her bed, the web of relationships she has woven over her forty-three years unravels and tears apart, without her being able to intervene in any way. Husband, lover, daughter, babysitter: her silent presence seems to precipitate events previously suspended in precarious stability. In a tense interior monologue, the profession of restorer becomes a metaphor for the present situation and the need to rebuild a new identity. Just as a canvas deteriorated by time regains life and color thanks to the slow, painstaking, and almost magical process of restoration, so "now your face resembles your name. And your name is very beautiful, its meaning is beautiful. Peace.".
