Synopsis

The book's protagonist is a man approaching old age, who has lived happily for many years with his beloved wife Maria in the small riverside village of Cantarana. Suddenly, one night, he remembers a schoolmate who, forty years earlier, had asked him an important question. To find the answer, he sets out in search of his friend. A journey filled with encounters, memories, and adventures begins: a strange village where everyone has lost their memories, a cannon-man and a wandering wizard, a flooding river and the epic resistance of the inhabitants threatened by the waters, and much more in the pages of this book, which only in the final lines reveals the question, the guide, and the motivation for this journey.
