Synopsis

"Look for Francesca because only she knows the truth."These are the last words of an elderly man dying. A simple sentence, yet capable of upending the routine the woman has painstakingly built over the years. A routine in which there is no room for the past. But too many questions have long awaited an answer, and now they are forcing her to return to Trieste. In that city, when she was just a young girl, she witnessed something she has tried with all her might to forget. Something to do with her grandmother's friends, their mysterious contacts, and a dark past tied to events of the Second World War: soldiers from opposing factions, denunciations, vendettas in a city suspended between disputed borders and uncertain destinies. Men who fought in the Resistance, trying to stop the enemy, no matter what name or uniform it presented, and who taught Francesca to trust no one. But fighting to the end for one's ideals means making choices that change the future. Choices that come at a price. Choices that carry with them secrets, ones to which there should be no witnesses. Now everything falls on Francesca. Because someone has called her to remember. Because the more distant the story seems, the closer it is.
