The Last Happy Family
Simone Giorgi
L’ultima famiglia felice
Einaudi
Synopsis
Matteo Stella is a father who believes in dialogue rather than imposing rules. He is a gentle and indulgent man, convinced he has built a happy family. Even though Stefano, his thirteen-year-old son, mocks his parenting methods with blind rebellion, gradually raising the bar. Even though Eleonora, his eldest daughter, seems to have gradually lost respect for him. Even though Anna, his wife, feels oppressed rather than liberated by her husband's infinite capacity for forgiveness. Then, suddenly, every illusion crumbles, revealing the vulnerability and contradictions that smolder beneath the ashes of every family.
