Synopsis
As a child, Mauro loses his older brother in a car accident. His father, unable to cope with the loss, runs away from home. His mother retreats into a mystical delirium. Mauro, who never counted in his father's heart, is haunted by the guilt of his death. Years pass, and one day, father and son meet again. The novel's plot, filled with twists, losses, and escapes, has the sweep of a story spanning multiple generations.
