Synopsis
Carlotta is a thirteen-year-old like any other, from a normal family, in a normal house overlooking the bitter fields of Salento. Emma is only slightly older, and her biography is polar opposites: half-Irish, musician parents, a psychedelic villa without rules. Theirs is a strong friendship, but one fraught with shadows. A bond that ends suddenly, one day during that summer that will mark them forever, when Carlotta wakes up in a hospital bed, her body marked by the indelible marks of violence her mind tries to forget. Emma is what remains of that cursed afternoon, of that summer. But Emma, too, will experience violence many years later; and Carlotta, now a woman whose ancient trauma has prevented her from truly becoming an adult, will sink into an irremediable solitude. Until one day, her friend's son knocks on Carlotta's door seeking answers, and their story resurfaces, piece by piece ... by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by piece by Probing the clear waters of the past in search of the truth she'd never dared to delve into as a young girl. A descent into the abyss, to begin living again.
