Synopsis

Munich, September 1931. Commissioner Sigfried Sauer is urgently called to a stately apartment on Prinzregentenplatz, where twenty-two-year-old Angela Raubal, known as Geli, has been found lifeless in her locked room. A revolver lies beside her lifeless body: everything points to suicide. Geli, however, is no ordinary girl, and the apartment where she lived and died, like the revolver that fired the fatal shot, does not belong to just anyone: her legal guardian is "Uncle Alf," known to the rest of Germany as Adolf Hitler, the most talked-about politician of the moment, partly due to his strange relationship with his niece, a source of indignation and scandal among both his enemies and his closest collaborators. Always together, always blissful and smiling in an at times adolescent intimacy, the gossip about them had even increased after the beautiful niece moved into her guardian's apartment. Sauer immediately finds himself investigating, caught between those who order him to close the investigation within hours and those who urge him to get to the bottom of the case and uncover the truth, whatever it may be. Hitler, who rushed from Nuremberg as soon as he heard the news, confirms he has an airtight alibi. Even the depositions of the servants are perfectly consistent. Yet it is precisely this apparent incontrovertibility of the facts that raises doubts in Sauer, who decides to delve deeper. The truths he will uncover, so dark they shake every one of his professional and personal certainties, will push him to make decisions on whose outcome the very future of democracy in Germany could depend..
