Synopsis

Rome, summer 1982. Oscar de Flavis, a neighborhood boss who'd been in prison for years, is killed in a settling of scores. From that day on, his son Ugo struggles between choosing a different life, going to college, and his love for Nina. After a brawl with a drug addict who tries to rob him, Ugo feels the pull of a violent life, the one embodied by his uncle, and decides to enter the family business at all costs. Fast forward to 1989. A supermarket robbery gone awry forces Ugo to take a hostage who proves to be very inconvenient; the man is the brother of a powerful oil magnate. Thus begins a rollercoaster of criminal activity and hidden lives intertwined with political interests and major international changes. The Berlin Wall crumbles, as does the system that supported it for years. And nothing will ever be the same again.
