Synopsis

It seems like an interminable duel unfolds at the end of a harsh winter in the harsh Pellice Valley of Piedmont between French General Roland Berthier and his only true enemy, the outlaw Giacomo Spada, known as Nibbio, commander of a band resisting the invasion of Napoleon's eagle. Berthier has fought great battles, such as that of Marengo, and feels suffocated by boredom in that remote garrison.
