Synopsis

"There are many legends about the chameleon. The most famous of all is that it changes color to camouflage itself. This isn't entirely true: the chameleon, in fact, changes color primarily for love."Carminia can't look anyone in the eye. She wishes they'd never speak to her, not even to wish her good morning. The slightest delay annoys her, a crooked painting bothers her. She has a set menu for each day of the week, a precise order for getting dressed every morning, a correct way for the toilet paper to slide on the roll holder, and eighteen copies of her favorite book on a shelf in the living room. She shuns any noise or even simple human contact. The truth is that people are a hindrance to her existence. Carminia has the transparency of the chameleon, the same ability to adapt to the situations she finds herself in and, in them, disappear. Yet she suffers from everything that she can't do, that bothers her, that doesn't come naturally: she has Asperger's syndrome, but she doesn't know it yet. It's only when she's finally diagnosed, and her mother seems to resurface from a distant childhood, that her world of order and routine begins to crumble. Along with Rebecca, a impertinent and garrulous little girl, Carminia will then have to come to terms with herself, with her way of inhabiting the world, and with what normality ultimately means.
