Synopsis
An eight-year-old boy has disappeared from a Roma camp beneath the Via della Magliana viaduct. Marco Paraldi, a former special correspondent with a brusque manner and a wounded heart, would like to know nothing about it and enjoy the Roman summer in his Campo de' Fiori wine bar. But then there's the old reporter's instinct, which he just can't bury under the crates of wine. But is it really just the reporter's instinct, or is there something from his past he doesn't dare remember? The investigation will take an unexpected and very dangerous path, forcing him to traverse a cruel and violent city, where evil pervades and good is only apparent: from the Tuscolano high-rises to the terraces of the historic center, from the nudist beaches along the coast to the VIP gyms of Parioli. Drug dealers, fixers, Brazilian transsexuals, cocaine-addicted MPs, priests no longer in their parish, women looking for love, killers: everyone wants something, but it's never what they say they want. A novel that takes us deep into the darkness of emotions and sin. And forces us to consider that reality, perhaps, isn't so far away.
