Synopsis
In the Saracenos, a Salerno family of coffee industrialists (since 1880: "The Unforgettable Aroma"), two apparently contrasting souls coexist: the founder of the "good" branch is Franco, owner of Caffè Saraceno, a successful industrialist. His sister Lulù, on the other hand, gives life to the "right" branch, with the immaculate conception of Italo Saraceno, future hero of the Resistance and Senator of the PCI. Highly active and unaware, the "good" and the "right", for almost fifty years, barely communicating with each other, burned by old grudges they no longer even remember, contribute to shaping Italian history and its future, each in their own way, with their own hypocrisies: submission to the Family, the Church, the State, the Parties and every sort of Revealed Truth, from Orientalism to methods against impotence. In a dense and compelling narrative, Francesco Paolo Maria Di Salvia condenses half a century of national history and the history of the party that, more than any other, was able to squander the opportunities it had to change the status quo.
