Synopsis
Maria, a former teacher laid off for redundancy with two teenage children, is forced to leave Italy, which, following the economic collapse, is now experiencing the same conditions as Eastern European countries. She goes to Bucharest to work as a caregiver in a bourgeois home of the nouveau riche, caring for an elderly man confined to bed. Gradually, a special relationship develops between the two. "The Caregiver of Bucharest" is a story of social and psychological repositioning, in which the protagonist reflects on the cultural deceptions of society, on guilt, on her relationship with her husband and children, on the new classism and racism of Romanians, where situations and thoughts are often imbued with bitter irony.
