Synopsis

A story spanning four decades, centered geographically, politically, and emotionally on the island of Giglio. A seemingly idyllic place, far removed from the rest of the world, it becomes the starting and ending point of events that shape both a family's history and the history of the country. Two sisters born in the 1970s on an island with fewer than a thousand inhabitants, a feisty mother and a hedonistic father, a partisan grandmother, and a wild boy. Teresa, the youngest daughter and narrator, will attempt to escape to find her place in the world, but she will inevitably have to reconcile herself with the island, just as she will have to deal with the separation from her beloved and captivating sister, with the political events she hasn't experienced yet continue to haunt her, with the nostalgia for the long summer that was her childhood, with her "minority," the acceptance of which is the key to recovering everything she felt she needed to escape.
