Synopsis

Terni. Acciai Speciali plant. An accident at the furnaces inadvertently involves the foreman and a material handling worker. Sergio Asciutti, a line worker and brother of the CEO, and Giulio, a crane operator, are the accused. The former remains in his position in the control room, while Giulio, after being demoted to a marginal role, plots revenge, attempting to defraud the company to compensate for the injustice he suffered. Nevertheless, management is preparing to hand over control of the plant, and everyone on Sergio's work team reacts according to their own temperament and family needs, faced with the grim prospect of losing their jobs. The withdrawal of the German owners, in favor of a Russian company that has appeared on the horizon without significant financial guarantees, is the prelude to controversy, strikes, and clashes. Furthermore, the unions' unity is fraying, compromised by the involvement of the Asciutti brothers' father, caught in the middle of clashes between workers and police during a demonstration. The relationship between the two brothers, already strained by their different positions within the company, fractures.
