Michelangelo is a young Neapolitan boy, a model student, who leaves his hometown of Naples to study architecture in London. His goal is to graduate with honors and achieve his dream: becoming part of the international star system.

To achieve this goal, he will abandon his city, his family and his girlfriend and, thanks to his great determination, he will find the strength and courage to make this dream come true.

The book stages the personal experience of the author, Mario Coppola, who in Michelangelo's life reflects that of many young Italians who, like him, left their country and their loved ones to escape abroad and see their talents recognized and realized, often remaining disappointed.

Michelangelo is just like that; he sees his life as a struggle against all odds, but in the city of London he discovers loneliness and melancholy. Here, many doubts plague him, and he wonders if what he's doing will truly lead to happiness.

The protagonist's story mirrors, in some ways, that of many young Italians today who leave to look for work abroad, hoping that their talents will be better appreciated in another country than they are in Italy. At the same time, however, in my opinion, Michelangelo differs from all the other young people in that he lives exclusively to achieve his goal. Often, some young people give up on going abroad because of their attachment to their country and their own lives, or if they do, they do so with difficulty. The protagonist, on the other hand, focuses solely on his career, ignoring his loved ones, his feelings, and even his physical health, leaving behind the places where he grew up and his memories, something young people rarely manage easily. He sees his life as a struggle against everything and everyone and often compares himself to famous characters from adventure stories or films. His only distraction in London is kung fu; otherwise, his life revolves around study and work. Michelangelo is therefore an unlikely figure, too rational, almost mechanical. But will he succeed in his intent, or will something stop him? Will he be able to pursue his goal so systematically?  

The novel has a simple style and a very youthful language, the chapter titles are inspired by Ulysses' journey.

The story of this young man seems quite unlikely as he sees his life as a constant struggle against others but also against himself, he always tries to improve himself and is willing to do anything to achieve his goals.

Will he be able to reach them? Will something stop him? Will something fail him that will lead him to return to his loved ones?

The book uses simple, off-color language, making it ideal for young readers seeking a simple yet engaging read, with humorous yet somewhat dramatic elements.
