Synopsis

A mother makes a long journey to reach the day her son will be killed. She has always known—ever since the secret of her pregnancy was revealed to her and she discovered she would give birth to a man destined to change the fate of all others—that this moment would come. Though unavoidable, it remains the hardest journey, the one she never wanted to embark on. Her son asks her to stay by his side and give him courage even in this final step. He, who can do more than anyone else, asks her for help to fulfill his Father's mission. Thus, the woman, at the foot of the cross, accompanies the man's long farewell; she is with him as he is carried to the tomb, she is there as it is closed: she persists in remembering everything that has happened, while the memory intertwines with the feelings of having been first a child, then a young woman, and then a bride, carrying the greatest joy in her womb. Forty hours pass between her death and the moment her son is resurrected, forty hours in which we breathe alongside, within, the emotions of a mother of inexhaustible strength, who will be able to believe to the end and in this faith find the reasons for her loss and the healing of her pain.
