Synopsis

It all begins at the Marriott Hotel in Washington. None of those summoned know what's truly at stake or the role each of them will play in the largest international conspiracy of recent decades. Not even Ron J. Stewart, an American secret agent ready for anything, a life marked by impossible missions. But the one he's about to be entrusted with is the most menacing and delicate of all. At stake is the political future of Italy and relations between the United States and the Soviet Union. The objective is to stop the PCI from taking power using any means, even the Red Brigades. Between Prague, Paris, Berlin under the Wall, Milan, and Genoa, in concert with other secret agents from East and West, outside official channels, Stewart will have to infiltrate and aid the terrorists in their subversive and destabilizing actions. The one who pays the price is Italy's most famous politician. A French secret agent, discovering the plot being woven, tries in vain to save the Christian Democrat leader. In vain, because "he" was supposed to die. Commissioned from Ferrari under considerable pressure by the “Corriere della Sera,” devastated by the P2 scandal, which had been kept in a drawer for years, this novel anticipated what was later partly confirmed by new testimonies and by the commissions investigating the Moro murder.
