Synopsis
Berardo Rossi, known as Dedo, is popular and brilliant, terrible at Latin, and an AC Milan fan even though he lives in Bologna. Giulio Bigi is shy and overweight, reads the Aeneid as if it were Tuttosport, and wears hideous ties. Two fifteen-year-olds who seem to belong to different planets, except that they now live in the same building and attend the same class... And that in Giulio's family there is a secret that will involve Dedo, despite himself. Giulio, in fact, has never seen his father, who has been confined to the hospital since before he was born. Now that stranger is about to return home. But he is not the person he expected. As a dark tale of musical ambition and unrequited passion emerges from the closets of the past, Dedo realizes that the "fat guy from upstairs" has become a friend, that that friend is in danger, and that it is time to make choices: now it is the two of them against everyone. From a nostalgia-filled Trieste to a bright and cynical Bologna, Pupi In his primo romanzo Avati creates an intense psychological plot and a suspenseful story: the story of a teenage friendship, a long-lasting love, and a dark revenge. And in Dedo and Giulio, he creates two extremely authentic protagonists: two boys forced to grow up by confronting their fathers' failures
