Synopsis

Forced to guard against the ghosts of the past and the dangers of the present, Nicoli, a clumsy and cunning accidental investigator, will face many obstacles to solve, one by one, the mysteries hidden within the city's stone body.
Far from the tourist crowds, in a sunny Venetian lagoon, Alessandro Nicoli, on a boat trip with his girlfriend, finds an ancient gold coin near the abandoned island of San Giacomo in Paludo. For Nicoli, a lifelong Venetian, a former journalist and an accidental investigator, it is the beginning of an intricate investigation that, between current events and ancient enigmas, will lead him to delve into the most hidden streets and canals of the Serenissima in an attempt to understand what two apparently unrelated murders have in common: an exorcist friar who claims to have invented the Chronovisor – a machine capable of overcoming the barriers of time –, the Hypnerotomachia – a centuries-old book that contains the secrets of dreams – and Lord Byron, the famous poet who lived for a long time in Venice amidst licentiousness and scandal, whose uneasy shadow hovers over the entire affair.
