Synopsis
Boscobasso, a charming village in the province of Cremona, is in turmoil. Not only has the violin maker Arcari been found dead in embarrassing circumstances, but it seems his perfect wife has taken up affairs with the gravedigger, while the former mayor has "escaped" from his grave: it's too much even for Marshal Bellomo and his two obedient subordinates. In the short span of two days, half the town is gripped by a fever of intrigue, sparing no one: from the town secretary Gigliola, zealous in everything except her job, to the rough AC Milan-supporting butcher Primo Ruggeri, not to mention the beautiful barmaid Elena, torn between two men and determined to win over a third. The investigation becomes more complicated, until the Marshal loses, if not his head, at least his hat... A comedy of errors bordering on detective fiction that tastefully showcases the Italian provinces, their characters, their cheerfulness, and their mysteries, in a plot that captivates and draws you in like a saraband.
