Synopsis

Anna is forty years old, has a child, a husband, a cat, a ficus tree, and she loves to chat lively with them all. Her life, in fact, goes on like any other, except that, following the formation of a small cerebral hematoma, Anna can communicate with plants and animals. Her extraordinary ability, besides offering her a new perspective on the world, lands her an unexpected job: she becomes an associate of the gruff private investigator Cantoni, with whom she constantly bickers, along with that "heavy man" Tonino and the harlequin Great Dane Otto, who has a sweet tooth and is prone to flatulence. While Cantoni and Tonino question relatives and neighbors at the crime scene, Anna secretly converses with the neighbor's dog, the plants in the neighboring garden, a suicidal pigeon, and two elderly, slightly doting turtle sisters. Thanks to her unsuspecting informants, Anna searches for a possible answer for the mother of Armando, a thirty-four-year-old former drug addict who "fell" from the building where he lived. The drug scene is the starting point of an investigation that—between unexpected revelations, conversations with the most disparate people about the meaning of life, a four-year-old son with an extremely imaginative eye for questions, and a sister in constant emotional crisis—Anna sees the investigation unraveling into multiple paths. Like "many pieces of a puzzle, but puzzles that are all different.".
