Bridge to Graces
Synopsis
Antonio and Paolo are brothers, nineteen and twenty-two. They've lived alone since their father died and their mother left home. Together, they've built a daily routine that, though precarious, seems to work. They live day by day, eking out a present that doesn't allow for any future plans. They live in a tiny town, an imaginary suburb in the center-south that almost feels like a prison, run-down and narrow. It's a scorching summer. Antonio is looking for a job, Paolo is trying to hold on to his. Their lives proceed without any major events, between wild nights, parties with friends, days at the beach, and evenings of sex, alcohol, and drugs. Until then, one seemingly calm day, something snaps, and old skeletons emerge from the closet, monsters from the past, poorly buried. Their mother, who fled her abusive husband years earlier, returns to them, a nearly forgotten love knocks on the door of one brother, and unspent crimes loom on the other's horizon. And everything must be reconsidered.
