Synopsis

Davide Manfredi is a senior at a Roman high school, plays the electric guitar, and loves cinema and literature. Unlike most of his peers, he has chosen not to have a social media profile. Sometimes his age is too much for him, making him impatient with a world that offends and irritates him "like wool on the skin." Luckily, he can count on his friends, with whom, between explosive situations and soccer games, he tries to survive his adolescence. Above all, he can count on the smile of Alice—his girlfriend—who soothes every pain, restoring, beyond all bitterness, an invincible zest for life. "Being a high school teacher is an act of pure self-harm," his father loved to repeat, but Giulio Lisi didn't listen; so, he spent half his life teaching, with passion and commitment. Very active on social media, where many now follow him, the professor maintains the same "modest wonder" toward his students that he tries to instill in them about life. In addition to teaching, he runs a counseling service for troubled students: three days a week, he sees students who, for various reasons, need his serious, professional, and thoughtful listening. Davide and Giulio are the faces of a diptych: together, they paint a realistic and relevant picture of today's school. Their paths will cross one Monday in January. That day, each will have something important to teach the other.
