The protagonists are two teenagers, Chiara and Edoardo, who travel throughout the book on two different paths that only intersect at the end of their story.
Edo is racist, and when he is assigned a Chinese classmate, the situation escalates; he has a particular hatred for the Chinese because he believes they took his father's job, but amidst all this hatred, there's also a grain of love, the love he feels for Giulia, a very good and studious girl with excellent grades, just like him, who attends the same class.
Edo has no friends, but he quickly finds himself part of the school bully group, and because of this, he argues with his parents, loses Giulia, begins to deteriorate at school, and smashes the window of a Chinese shop. He soon separates from the group after an event he never expected.
Now let's talk about Chiara, the other protagonist.
