Synopsis

The suicide of Filippo, a promising young local swimmer, shocks the small community of Castel Carpino and shatters the fragile balance that sustains daily life in the village. Everyone says it's an incomprehensible death, while rumors circulate unchecked and law enforcement investigates family members and acquaintances. What did the victim's best friend see on the day of the tragedy? Gabriele—a mediocre athlete, reserved in character, and with obvious learning disabilities—is left to bear not only the burden of grief, but also the responsibility of the stigma attached to his special relationship with Filippo, which has never been well received by his teammates. As if that weren't enough, the pool attendant reveals he's noticed strange presences near the fence of the sports center where Filippo committed suicide, and even accuses him of causing his friend's death. It will be Angela, Gabriele's mother, who will attempt to stem the rumors surrounding her family, finding the strength to confront her past and the memories that tie her to the land where she was born. In a context where adults continue to deny the truth of the facts to protect their own beliefs and interests, it will be two teenagers—Filippo's longtime rival and the girl who was in love with him—who will approach Gabriele and try to reconstruct the meaning of the tragedy with him.
