Synopsis

Western Condominium recounts a dramatic and increasingly prevalent phenomenon in Western metropolises: the daily impossibility for many ordinary people to maintain a normal life. This is precisely what happens to Anna and her daughter Aurora, who from a normal, lower-middle-class existence find themselves living in a car, plunged into the reality of a refugee camp for the homeless. It's a harsh world with its own rules, pettiness, and abuse, but where there's also room for solidarity and hope. The author's dry yet moving realism, simple and direct style, and acute and sensitive gaze bring to light the subtle and merciless dynamics of human relationships and the mother-daughter bond.
