Synopsis

"Chiodo della terra" is the story of one of the most devastating eruptions ever recorded on Mount Etna. A cataclysm that unfolds in the space of a single night. An apocalypse seen through the lens of six characters, six intertwined paths. It is the story of Luca, a young man who fled to Milan to escape his violent father Giuseppe. Upon hearing the news of the disaster on Etna, Luca tries to return to Catania to save his mother, Agata, trapped on the volcano with her husband, now blinded by his own madness. Their fates intertwine with those of Matt and Lisa, a couple of English tourists lost on the trails of Etna during a nighttime hike, and with that of Carmine, an ambitious politician with a dark personal tragedy behind him. Each of them will search for a way to survive, while at the same time forgiving themselves for the sins of their past. A past that risks being buried by the fury of Etna, dragging with it the burden of torment and regrets that every person hides in their soul.
