Apnea

Lorenzo Amurri

Apnea

Fandango

Synopsis

His face buried in the snow, like soft cotton wool that takes his breath away. It's the vertigo of apnea. A few moments earlier, Lorenzo had been skiing with Johanna, his girlfriend. A carefree moment like so many others, now irretrievably pushed back into a distant past. Then the helicopter ride to the hospital, the induced coma, and a nine-hour spinal surgery. From his nipples down, a complete loss of sensation and movement. From now on, Lorenzo and his body will live apart at home. But the only thing that matters now are his hands. To be able to move them again, to start playing the guitar again, because music is his entire life. From intensive care to the long months of rehabilitation in a Zurich clinic, until the moment of leaving the new womb that kept him confined but cared for and protected him during his recovery. And the difficult reintegration into a world where suddenly everything is out of reach and everyone has grown taller, menacing giants with imposing shadows. With courage and determination, Lorenzo Amurri recounts his return to life. The desire to see, to touch, to feel. To start staying out late with friends again, to abandon himself to the love of his woman and regain the freedom that was stolen from him. Each stage is a slow ascent to the surface, a deep breath that precedes a perfect and interminable breath.
