Synopsis
Pietro is forced to return home to visit his ailing father, a landowner and farmer. He is the eldest of three siblings, Bruno and Clara, who still live in the family home. Bruno manages his father's business, while Clara is a kindergarten teacher. We are in a rural village on the Ligurian coast, the heat is as thin as if unable to cover the people's bodies. Pietro's return opens a chasm that stirs time, swallowing it and expanding it. The landscape is thus distorted, everything is transfigured by the spiritual movement of the characters who lose themselves in reflective visions, within a mythical and tragic past they cannot forget, but only narrate with cruelly poetic precision. Old grudges, promises, and a painful reality resurface: his mother's abandonment and Pietro's love for Maria, a former playmate. A divisive love capable of making even the demons silently harboring against brotherhood resonate. The wind, the sea, the summer burst with howling shadows, while a viperine secret progresses like a condemnation, which is reflected on the Ligurian land itself and even outrages mythology.
