Synopsis

Morocco, 1984. Ami is only fourteen when she falls in love and decides to run away from home with a handsome, rich boy whose name she doesn't even know. He has a fancy car, and she thinks they're going to get married, or something like that. That this is a honeymoon, or something like that. But it's a deception, and Ami, pregnant, finds herself alone, lost in the narrow streets of Tinghir. Her naiveté has a disruptive force. She knows little about life but trusts what happens. And she doesn't realize she's overcoming difficulties that would crush anyone. She gives birth to her son Majid in the Atlas Mountains, under the tent of two shepherds. She's a hostess in Casablanca, a smuggler in Melilla, a drinker and a clandestine immigrant on the dusty streets of Morocco. Until she spends all her hard-earned money on a place on a yoct, as she calls it, and ventures to Europe in search of a better future for herself and her baby. She will change languages and habits, and face new and unpredictable difficulties. Tireless like an eighteenth-century heroine, she will fall again, get up again, and start over stronger than before, maintaining her spontaneity, her trust in others, and her love for her son Majid. A son who will lead her to confront her past. A boy with a very special destiny.
