Synopsis
A nine-year-old boy has been murdered. The young body is found at the bottom of a well. A Senegalese street vendor, Abdou Thiam, is accused of a heinous crime. He works on the beach near his grandparents' house, where the boy often plays. Evidence and testimony nail the Senegalese man, but above all, a photo and the statements of a bartender. His fate at trial is sealed: deprived of resources, he faces a hasty public defense and a twenty-year sentence under a fast-track trial. But it's a fate that clashes with that of a struggling lawyer who, in the struggle to save Abdou from a passionate defense, finds a new lease on life.
