Cassowary party

Synopsis

Turin, early summer. Isa, a twenty-year-old university student studying literature, is throwing a party at her parents' villa and garden. Classmates, old friends, friends of friends, acquaintances, and party crashers all arrive. There's plenty of alcohol and food, the right music, and, if necessary, a few drugs to relax the mind and body. The only one who hasn't arrived yet is Ezio, the guest Isa is most eagerly awaiting. A small incident sparks events. From an anonymous gift, a threatening note appears: if no guest dares touch the neighbor's cassowary by 1:00 AM, Ezio will die. It's a joke, her friends say. And what is a cassowary? And why is there one right in the next garden? The cassowary is a kind of ostrich, but far more dangerous: with its long, knife-sharp claw, it can kill a person, and it doesn't like to be disturbed. Isa and her friends, as the party expands and amplifies in words and gestures, each reacts differently. Everything seems to converge toward a space, a time, a precise and fateful moment, next to a metal fence, deciding for themselves and for others. They wonder who will be crazy enough to cross the fence to touch the cassowary.
