Synopsis

2019. Swiss Alps. In the luxury hotel where he lives, a man named Wilhelm Lang receives an unexpected letter, a letter that opens the door to a past he thought buried, when his name was Markus Graf. The sender is Greta, his former lover, his colleague from his time as a Stasi spy. At the same time, in Berlin's Tiergarten park, a Russian diplomat is shot dead. Nina Barbaro, the Italian-born Chief of Police Commissioner, arrives to investigate. She doesn't believe ISIS is behind the crime, despite being under intense political pressure to quickly close the case and find the most convenient culprits. But to solve the mystery, they must go back in time, to the days of the fall of the Berlin Wall. On the evening of November 9, 1989, while the world watches in shock as the human river from East seeks to pass to West, the streets of Berlin are filled with Markus, Nina, and Greta, forced to make decisive decisions that will forever shape their lives. And not only that. Meanwhile, Yuri, an ambitious KGB agent destined to become President of Russia, and Leo Kasprik, a psychiatrist and expert in hypnosis, try to obtain the files related to the secret project they have spent years developing: Project "Walrus," named after the evil walrus from the John Lennon and Paul McCartney song and the disturbing dark tale of Alice in Wonderland. A project that was supposed to create four deadly "sleeper agents," trained to kill and invincible in the field.
